Strategic and OperationalConsulting

Many business owners and senior executives face a common challenge: important strategic initiatives demand focused time and attention, but the day-to-day responsibilities of running the business rarely leave room for them.

Projects such as expanding a facility, acquiring a company, or launching a new strategic initiative are often intense, short-term efforts that require full-time focus. These initiatives can significantly influence the future direction of the company, yet hiring a permanent executive for a temporary project is often impractical.

In other cases, leadership teams want an experienced outside perspective. They may question whether their strategy is aligned with long-term growth and seek a trusted advisor who can provide clear, objective feedback and help translate ideas into a structured plan.

Selected Engagements

Tariff Optimization and Cost Recovery

A manufacturing client importing key components faced rising tariff costs and lacked clarity on the correct classification of imported materials. I worked with suppliers and customs brokers to analyze HS and HTSUS classifications and identify opportunities to optimize tariff treatment. In addition, I developed a structured framework to translate tariff costs into customer reimbursement mechanisms. As a result, the client reduced Section 232 tariff expenses by approximately 30% and recovered more than 80% of tariff costs through customer pricing adjustments.

Manufacturing Cost Reduction and Operational Turnaround

A manufacturing facility experiencing sustained operating losses required a structured turnaround strategy. I conducted a detailed operational and financial review to identify major cost drivers across warehousing, equipment downtime, and general administrative expenses. Working with the management team, I prioritized targeted improvement initiatives and helped drive execution. The program ultimately delivered over $12 million in cost savings and positioned the facility on a path toward breakeven performance.

Pricing Strategy and Contract Negotiations

A client was struggling to justify price increases with major customers despite rising input and labor costs. I analyzed raw material trends, operating cost drivers, and labor data, including industry benchmarks from census and BLS sources. This analysis was translated into a clear pricing framework aligned with customer contract requirements. The resulting negotiations enabled the client to secure price increases of approximately 5–7% across several key accounts.

Sales and Operations Planning Implementation

A client’s production schedules and demand forecasts were poorly aligned, leading to missed shipments, excess inventory, and operational bottlenecks. I designed and implemented a structured Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process that improved coordination between sales, operations, and supply chain teams. This alignment allowed production planning to better match customer demand and reduced customer chargebacks by more than 70% through improved on-time delivery performance.

Facility Expansion and Capital Project Management

Following the award of a major contract, a client needed to expand its production facility and install new equipment within a 24-month timeframe. I provided executive-level oversight across the project, including lease negotiations, contractor selection, project governance, and capital budgeting. The expansion project was successfully completed on schedule and within budget, allowing the client to meet production commitments for the new program.

My Approach

Strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, facility expansions, operational turnarounds, or pricing strategy changes require more than high-level advice. They require disciplined analysis, structured planning, and consistent execution.

My approach begins with understanding how the business operates and what decision the leadership team is trying to make. From there, I develop financial and operational analysis that connects strategy with measurable outcomes. This may involve evaluating cost structures, modeling financial scenarios, assessing operational constraints, or identifying the key drivers that influence profitability and cash flow.

Once the analytical framework is established, I work closely with management teams to translate analysis into practical actions. The goal is not simply to deliver a report, but to help leadership teams implement initiatives that materially improve business performance.

Because many of these initiatives are time-sensitive and operationally complex, I integrate directly with the client’s leadership team and support execution while they continue to focus on running the business.
